Potrebno je toplo proleće kako pupoljci bagrema ne bi izmrzli, a za vreme cvetanja
neophodno je lepo i toplo vreme da zamedi. Izlučivanju nektara odgovaraju tople noći sa
dosta jutarnje rose, i umoreno topli dani bez vetra. Optimalna temperatura za lučenje nektara
je između 20 i 25°C. Može se desiti da, usled nedostatka vode u zemljištu, bagrem počne da
ispušta jači miris i privlači druge oprašivače koji su manje zahtevni od pčela, što se tiče
nektara.
Boja bagremovog meda varira od godine do godine. Kreće se od bledožućkaste do zelenkaste
boje. Zavisi od prilika za vreme cvetanja bagrema, od ćudi same pčele, a i od boje teglice u
kojoj se med čuva.
Bagremov med se sakuplja krajem aprila i početkom maja, cvetanje traje oko dve nedelje.
Period cvetanja bagrema karakterističan je po prijatnom mirisu koji se širi svuda oko stabala.
Da li ste i vi grickali cvetove bagrema kada ste bili deca? Mi smo obožavali. Tada nismo znali
da je bagrem lekovit i da od njega može da se pravi sok, slatko, džem, čaj. Sada naša deca
beru bagrem i istorija se ponavlja. A zajedno učimo o istorijskim činjenicama.
Evo šta smo saznali:
Bagrem nije oduvek postojao na ovim prostorima. Donet je iz Amerike pocetkom 17.veka. Za
to je zaslužan Žan Robin, baštovan sa francuskog dvora, po kome je ova biljka dobila ime
(Robinia pseudoacacia). Nekada se koristio za uređenje velikih zelenih površina, u
parkovima. Sadio se kao pojedinačna stabla ili u drvoredima. Danas uglavnom raste kao
samoniklo drvo, ili se gaji za izradu delova čamaca i brodova, podnih obloga, ogreva i slično.
U lekovite svrhe upotrebljava se mladi list, cvet bagrema i plod, veoma retko se koristi mlada
kora, dok je stara kora jako otrovna. Nama najznačajnija korist bagrema je u pčelarstvu. Beli
mirišljavi cvetovi bogati su nektarom – sokom koji pčele sakupljaju pretvarajući ga u, vama
omiljeni, bagremov med. Njegova primena je široka. Uskoro će sa našeg pčelinjaka biti
